The Macaaw app for Zapier connects Macaaw to thousands of other apps without code.
Before you start
- You need a plan with live API keys: Pro or Business. In a Business workspace, only the owner and admins can create keys.
- Zapier signs in to Macaaw with an API key. Anyone with the key can act in your workspace, so keep it in Zapier only.
How to connect Zapier
- Open Developers and API in your account and create a live key. Name it "Zapier" so you recognise it.
- Open Integrations and follow the link on the Zapier card to the Macaaw app in Zapier.
- In Zapier, choose Macaaw and paste the key when asked. Zapier shows the workspace name it connected to.
How to use triggers and actions
Triggers (start a Zap when this happens in Macaaw):
- Task finished: a task started through the API (for example by a Zap) is done.
- Agreement completed: every signer has signed and the signed PDF is ready.
- Agreement declined: a recipient declined to sign.
- Invoice check approved and Invoice check needs review (Business).
- Scan saved: a scan arrived in the cloud library.
Actions (do this in Macaaw):
- Run a tool on a file: give a file from an earlier step and choose the tool and its options.
- Send an agreement from a template: give a PDF with text tags, such as one kept in Google Drive, and the recipients.
- Create an invoice check: give the invoice, purchase order and delivery note files.
Zaps that use Macaaw triggers appear on the Zapier card under Integrations.
If something goes wrong
- API access required: the key is a sandbox key, or the plan has no API access. Create a live key on Pro or Business.
- The key is invalid: it was revoked or deleted. Create a new key and reconnect the Macaaw account in Zapier.
- A trigger fires but data is missing: Macaaw never sends file contents or file names to Zapier, only ids, statuses and amounts.
- The full API reference is in the developer documentation.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be a developer?
No. You create an API key once in Account › Developers and paste it into Zapier. Everything else is done in Zapier's editor.
Which plan do I need?
A plan with API access, which is Pro or Business. Zaps use the same API and its limits.
