Many clinics still print a form, ask the patient to sign it at reception and scan it back in. Sending the form before the appointment removes that loop: the patient reads it at home, signs on their phone, and the signed copy with its certificate is ready to file before they arrive. Clinics ask
Can patients sign consent forms electronically?
In England and Wales an electronic signature is valid for most documents, and many forms can be signed this way. Your clinical governance and your regulator decide which consent forms you accept electronically. Deeds and documents that must be witnessed need extra formalities, and Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own rules.
Is Macaaw a medical records system?
No. It handles PDF jobs such as forms, signatures, compression and redaction. Keep the patient record in your clinical system and delete files from Macaaw once they are filed.
Where is patient data processed?
Browser tools, such as Redact PDF and Fill PDF form, never upload the file. Server tools run in London and delete files within 2 hours. Staff can never open your files.
Do you have healthcare certifications?
We do not hold healthcare-specific certifications. Business includes a data processing agreement under UK GDPR, and our security page explains how files are handled so your data protection officer can assess it.
Can patients sign without an account?
Yes. Patients open the link in their email and sign on any phone or computer. Only your staff need accounts.
