About signing PDFs
This tool places your signature on the page as an image, the online equivalent of signing a printed copy and scanning it back. It is accepted for many everyday documents, such as tenancy forms, permission slips, invoices and many contracts, but it is not a certified digital signature. A certified digital signature uses a certificate to prove who signed and to show whether the file was changed afterwards; this tool does not add one. If the recipient asks for a qualified or certificate-based signature, use the service they specify. For an uploaded signature, sign in dark ink on white paper and take a straight, well-lit photo; a PNG with a transparent background looks most natural on the page. Drawn signatures look best with a stylus or finger on a touch screen. Your signature is not saved on our side; because everything happens in your browser, it is never uploaded. If the PDF has form fields, complete them first with Fill PDF form.
Limits: one PDF per task, up to 25 MB with a free account, 200 MB on Pro and 500 MB on Business. Browser tools have no daily task limit.
Before you sign in, files can be up to 25 MB. A free account raises this to 25 MB.
Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser; the file never leaves your device. Nothing is uploaded, so neither your document nor your signature is stored by us.
How to use the PDF tools: Step-by-step help with every tool, limits and your files.
