About converting Word documents to PDF
A PDF fixes your layout in place, so the person you send it to sees exactly what you see, whether or not they have Word installed. The converter reads both the older .doc format and the current .docx format and keeps margins, columns, headers and footers, tables, images and hyperlinks. Each output keeps the original file name, so report.docx becomes report.pdf. Fonts matter most: if your document uses a font that is not installed on our server, a close match is used instead, which can move line breaks slightly. If the exact look matters, embed fonts when you save in Word (File, Options, Save, Embed fonts in the file) or stick to common fonts. Tracked changes and comments appear as they would when printed, so accept or hide them first if you do not want them in the PDF. If the result is larger than you need for email, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.
Limits: files up to 25 MB with a free account, 200 MB on Pro and 500 MB on Business; up to 3 files per task on Free, 50 on Pro and 200 on Business. Each document counts as one Office conversion: 10 a month on Free, 300 on Pro and 500 per user on Business, shared across the workspace. A free account also includes 10 server tasks a day.
Before you sign in, files can be up to 25 MB and you can run 10 server tasks a day. A free account raises this to 25 MB and 10 tasks a day.
Privacy: your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection to our UK servers, processed automatically with no person opening it, and deleted within 2 hours (1 hour on Free), or straight away with Delete now.

Word to PDF: frequently asked questions
Will my PDF look exactly like the Word document?
In most cases, yes. Layout, tables and images are kept. The main difference comes from fonts we do not have, which are replaced with a close match; embedding fonts in Word avoids this.
Can I convert several Word files at once?
Yes. Add up to 3 files on Free, 50 on Pro or 200 on Business. You get one PDF per document, delivered together in a ZIP.
Do I need Microsoft Word installed?
No. The conversion runs on our servers, so it works from any browser on a computer, tablet or phone.
Are hyperlinks kept in the PDF?
Yes. Links to web pages and links within the document stay clickable in the PDF.
