What tech teams use it for

Built for sales, security and engineering

  • Order forms and contracts, signed

Compare the customer’s redlines with your template, then send the agreed version for signature in the order your process needs.

  • Security questionnaires and policy packs

Convert policies from Word, merge them into one pack for a customer’s security review and protect it with a password. The customer gets one document to review instead of a folder of links.

  • Documentation in both directions

Turn a saved HTML page into a PDF for a customer, or turn a PDF into Markdown with headings, lists and tables for your docs repository.

  • PDF features in your product

Call the same tools from your code with the PDF API: compress, convert, recognise text and send for signature, with webhooks and a free sandbox.

  • Specs and diagrams reviewed

Add comments and highlights to a specification or an architecture diagram, or export pages as images for a ticket or a slide. Reviewers can work on the PDF directly, without the original design tool.

  • Logs and screenshots shared safely

Redact keys, emails and customer names from logs and screenshots saved as PDF, and strip hidden metadata before sending them to a vendor.

Where Macaaw fits in a tech company

Software companies close deals with contracts, pass audits with policy packs and support customers with documentation. Macaaw covers those documents without another heavy system to run. Sales, security and support teams work in the browser; engineers can use the same tools through the API. There is nothing to install or maintain, and new starters can use it the day they join.

20 of the 40 tools run entirely in the browser, so files never leave the device. Server tools run in London and delete files within 2 hours. Business workspaces can require passkeys or two-step sign-in, limit sign-in methods and keep an audit log for a year.

The PDF API uses the same tools as the website, with API keys, idempotent requests and webhooks signed so you can check they came from us. The sandbox is free for every signed-in account, and live keys come with Pro and Business.

Playbook

A customer contract in four steps

From redlines to a countersigned order form without leaving the browser.

  1. Compare the redlines

Compare the customer’s returned draft with your template to see every change.

  2. Agree the final version

Convert the agreed version to PDF and merge in the order form and any schedules. Check the schedules carry the same version number.

  3. Send in order

Add the customer’s signer first and your own signatory second, with reminders on.

  4. Close the loop

Download the signed PDF with its certificate, or get it automatically through a webhook if you send through the API.

Save it as a workflow

Is there a free sandbox for the API?

Yes. Every signed-in account can create sandbox keys for free, with small limits, so you can build and test before going live.

Can we embed signing in our app?

Yes. The API supports documents and e-signature with embedded signing and webhooks, so your users sign without leaving your product.

Can we require passkeys for our team?

Yes. A Business workspace can require two-step sign-in by passkey or authenticator app for every member.

Where is data processed?

Browser tools run on the device. Server tools and the API run in London and delete task files within 2 hours.

Can PDF to Markdown handle tables?

Yes. It keeps headings, paragraphs, lists and tables as Markdown, and runs in your browser.

Are API webhooks signed?

Yes. Each webhook carries a signature you can check with the shared key you set for the webhook, so your system only acts on events that came from Macaaw. Requests can also carry an idempotency key, so a retried call never runs the same task twice.
